Description |
A 6 week family literacy program that helps parents/caregivers understand how children begin to read and to develop and support pre-reading skills. Weekly sessions offer fun activities, discussion, as well as play and circle time to encourage reading skills. The program also builds parent/caregiver skills for helping their child develop early reading skills and to promote parent/caregiver engagement in their child’s education. 6 week sessions are offered twice per year. Communities Served | Open to all families, provided that spaces are available. |
Languages Served | The program is in English, as it would be in the school systems, however the staff speak Tagalog and Mandarin as well. The program has had children from many language backgrounds, including Spanish, Cantonese, Portuguese, French, Japanese, and Korean. |
