After initially settling in Canada, newcomer parents may begin to face unexpected challenges in their settlement process – with their children.

Learn about the various issues parents and youth face in Canadian society and what supports are available for families.

  • What is the legal age for…?
  • Challenges facing parents and youth
  • Help for parents

Client Outreach and Support Tips

Delivered regularly at all of the YMCA Newcomer Information Centres in the Greater Toronto Area (Scarborough, North York, Downtown Toronto).

Participants must bring a PR card, Record of Landing paper, or Notice of Decision letter in order to register.

Frontline workers can refer newcomer clients directly to  YMCA Newcomer Information Centres. Please check the website or visit/ call the centres for monthly schedule.  Pre-registration is highly recommended.
