The Toronto District School Board’s Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) along with the Middle Childhood Matters Coalition, invite all TDSB parents/guardians to take part in this annual one-day conference.

Attendees will have the opportunity to make connections with other parents/guardians and community organizations, while participating in informative and empowering workshops on a wide range of topics related to parenting, student learning, and school councils.

Keynote speaker is internationally acclaimed speaker, educator and author Dr. Stuart Shanker.

FREE registration includes light breakfast, lunch, childminding, translation services, transportation, workshops, keynote address, and information marketplace. (Child-minding, interpretation and busing are available through online registration only.)

October is Islamic Heritage Month at the Toronto District School Board.  There are many events planned throughout the month, at a variety of locations across Toronto, to give students, parents and community members opportunities to learn about the rich culture and traditions of Muslims in Canada.

George Brown College is offering ‘College Application 101’ information sessions for anyone looking for information and assistance preparing a college application.  Entry Advisors will help with step-by-step guidance.

The session is available at no cost to all interested participants. Participants do not have to be applying to George Brown.

Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) high schools host open houses each fall for Grade 8 students and their families.

The open houses are an opportunity for students and parents to see the schools, meet school staff, and learn about the programs, services and activities that each school has to offer.

To help students and families make informed decisions when choosing a school, Toronto District School Board (TDSB) schools host information nights for parents and students each year between October and January.  Families will learn everything they need to know about the TDSB’s wide variety of schools, programs and courses.

Bill 37, the Protecting Students Act, 2016, will increase protection for children and students by making the disciplinary process for school teachers more clear and transparent.

The act, which was recently passed by the Ontario legislature, will enhance the investigation and disciplinary processes of the Ontario College of Teachers and reduce potential conflicts of interest to help protect children, students and teachers
