School Readiness and Kindergarten Preparation Early Orientation to School Capacity Building for Parents |
Agency/ Provider | Scadding Court Community Centre |
Description |
The aim of the program is to ease the transition process for families whose children will soon be entering the school system. The objectives focus on fostering child physical well-being, emotional health and a positive approach to new experiences. This program does so by providing comprehensive, interactive, multi-day, workshop and play-based activities. For children, the School Readiness Program introduces age-appropriate knowledge, competence, cognitive skills, an approach to self-regulation, and handling separation from parents/caregivers. The program creates its own curriculum, focusing on four aspects: language, social, reasoning and physical development activities. These activities help build on children’s innate desire to learn, and explore their environment. Workshops for parents/caregivers on parenting and educational issues are provided. 11 – 13 week sessions (4 days/week) are offered at different community locations – Contact us for details and to register. |
